Remote volunteering

Sara was our first ever remote volunteer!

The pandemic forced us all to look at things in a different way, even though we were all locked down many people found ways to connect and interact online. Face to face volunteers had always been our bread and butter until that point. We had a new influx of people wanting to volunteer from their own homes. With a bit of creative thinking we set up a remote volunteering programme, which has gone from strength to strength. Activities range from creative design to administration tasks and events organising. We have even moved our Global Citizenship training online and will have teachers and professionals from all over the UK to support the delivery of the course.

We have established a small team of social media volunteers across the UK, with people volunteering remotely in Wales, England and even Scotland. We are so happy to be able to offer these opportunities to even more people than before.

I found social media a great way to volunteer. Last 2 months I’ve volunteered for Safe Foundation. This has allowed me to improve my creativity skills and use new software such as Trello. I’ve found social media a way forward in my career pathway as I love using smartphone applications such as Canva.
